Data, disparity, discrimination & outcomes

Anyone that looks at a chart and automatically assumes discrimination towards group X as the cause of different group outcomes should understand that:

  1. Correlation does not imply causation.
  2. Disparity in outcomes does not imply discrimination.
  3. If discrimination is proven, this does not mean that it is effective and causing the disparity.

When you want to help people, you tell them the truth. When you want to help yourself, you tell them what they want to hear.
