Data, disparity, discrimination & outcomes
Anyone that looks at a chart and automatically assumes discrimination towards group X as the cause of different group outcomes should understand that:
- Correlation does not imply causation.
- Disparity in outcomes does not imply discrimination.
- If discrimination is proven, this does not mean that it is effective and causing the disparity.
